
Jim joined the National Center for Defense Manufacturing and Machining (NCDMM) in 2026 as a Project Engineer for the Youngstown Innovation Hub for Aerospace & Defense. Managed by NCDMM in partnership with America Makes, the Hub drives economic growth across Northeast Ohio and the state. He plays a key role in delivering Hub programs and providing support to regional manufacturers, helping them to implement advanced manufacturing technologies and participate in the defense industrial base. He brings over 12 years of experience to the team.
Previously, Jim served as a Research and Development Engineer at General Dynamics Bath Iron Works in Maine aiding in the design and construction of destroyers for the U.S. Navy. During his tenure, he supported and led funded technology insertion projects involving AI, metal and polymer additive manufacturing, augmented reality, and aerial and underwater drones. Additionally, his background has afforded him extensive experience leading and managing advanced manufacturing modalities and processes, including computer numerical control machining and programming, and computer-aided design and manufacturing.
Jim also served for four years in the United States Marine Corps as a machine gun section leader and a joint fires observer.
He holds a bachelor’s in Manufacturing Engineering Technology from Vermont State University.
